Dream Tunnels

Via a regimen of multimedia studies in video, drawing, and tectonic construction, this project explores consciousness and the perception of motion. A series of linear tunnel constructions with flickering lights and manipulated textures parses these anomalies of motion. The textured tunnel concept evolves into an intestine lined with a repetitive array of villi, imagined as cruciform towers.
The tunnels are aggregated into an underground and above-ground tower megastructure―an infinitely extending accumulation of tunnels, staircases, and stadium seating. An animated fly-through video sequence of the tower explores how architectural textures can influence optic flow.
