This concept for a rural home is economical but also has a strong visual connection to the surrounding mountain landscape. To this end, the massing of the structure is a simple extrusion, clad in shiplap cedar siding. Window openings are oversize but kept to a minimum, with the exception of a dramatic 20-foot curtain wall on the front elevation that anchors a comfortably sized open-plan kitchen and dining/living room. In this main space, the simple shed roof slopes up toward the entry door and meets a white oak accent wall behind a wood stove. The sleeping quarters feature an efficient two-bedroom, one-bathroom layout.
